Srinagar: Security forces on Friday recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition from a hideout near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, foiling what police described as a potential terror plot, according to officials cited by PTI.
Acting on specific intelligence, troops launched a search operation in the Neeriyan Forest area of Handwara in north Kashmir. A police official said the operation led to the discovery of a concealed hideout stocked with weapons.
The recovered items include two M-series (M4) assault rifles with four magazines, two Chinese pistols with three magazines, two hand grenades and multiple live rounds, the official added.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway, he added.
Police said the recovery of the weapons haul has “foiled a potential terror plot,” underscoring continued efforts to prevent infiltration and movement of arms along the LoC.
