SRINAGAR: Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar has, in accordance with the wish of the Imam-e-Hai of Jama Masjid and senior scholar Ahmad Sayeed Naqshbandi and due to his advanced age and health concerns entrusted his son Shakeel Ahmad Naqshbandi with the responsibility of Naib Imam-e-Hai of the Central Jama Masjid Srinagar.
The announcement was made by President of the Anjuman, Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr. Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, during a special ceremony held after Friday prayers, during which Shakeel Ahmad Naqshbandi was formally turbaned (dastar bandi) in the presence of Imam-e-Hai and office-bearers of the Anjuman.
On the occasion, Mirwaiz paid heartfelt tribute to Moulana Ahmad Sayeed Naqshbandi for his long and dedicated services and prayed for his complete health and well-being. He also offered warm congratulations and best wishes to Naqshbandi on assuming the new responsibility, expressing hope that he will follow the legacy of his esteemed father in serving the historic Jama Masjid with sincerity and devotion.
