Srinagar: The daily Kashmir Reader expresses grief and sorrow over the demise of senior journalist and J&K Bureau Head of The Week magazine, Tariq Ahmad Bhat, who passed away on Tuesday morning after suffering a massive cardiac attack.
At 54, Bhat left behind his wife and three young children, leaving a void that will be difficult to fill in the realm of journalism and beyond.
“Tariq Ahmad Bhat was not only a respected journalist but also a familiar face at the Kashmir Reader office. A regular visitor, he shared warm interactions with our staff, often recounting his experiences and insights from his extensive career. His visits were always marked by kindness, humility, and a genuine passion for truthful reporting,” said Kashmir Reader Editor-in-Chief, Haji Hayat Mohammad Bhat.
He said the funeral procession, which saw a large turnout of colleagues, friends, and admirers from across Kashmir’s media circles, underscored the profound respect and admiration the late journalist commanded. “His integrity and dedication to journalism were well-known throughout the journalistic community, making his sudden departure a significant loss,” Bhat said.
Hayat extended deepest condolences to the family of Tariq Ahmad Bhat. “We pray for eternal peace for his departed soul and stand with his loved ones during this difficult time. His professionalism, self-respect, and warm human nature will be remembered fondly by all who knew him,” he said.
Meanwhile, a condolence meeting was held at the Kashmir Reader office on Tuesday.
The staff members said Tariq Ahmad Bhat’s commitment to truthful journalism and his humane approach to life will continue to inspire generations of journalists. They paid heartfelt tribute to a remarkable human being and a dedicated professional.
