SRINAGAR: J&K Police celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas across the Union Territory to honor the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and promote national unity. The events included pledges, parades, runs for unity, and plantation drives held in various districts such as Shopian, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Pulwama, Budgam, Kupwara, Sopore, and Handwara.
In Shopian, a grand parade and pledge ceremony took place at District Police Lines, featuring a Run for Unity, a march past, and the administration of the pledge by SSP Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary. The contingents from JKP, CRPF, Homeguards, and NCC participated with discipline and patriotic fervor, emphasizing the importance of national integrity and harmony.
Ganderbal hosted a vibrant Mini-Marathon, flagged off by SSP Khalil Ahmad Poswal from the Clock Tower. Youth, students, media, and police personnel participated enthusiastically, reflecting the spirit of unity. The event concluded with prizes for top finishers and a pledge reaffirming commitment to the nation. A ceremonial march past was also held at the police grounds, and an “Ekta Tree” plantation drive symbolized growth and harmony.
Kulgam observed pledge-taking ceremonies and a main parade at DPL Kulgam, where SSP Anayat Ali Chowdhary led the march past and administered the pledge. A photo exhibition on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and an Ekta Tree plantation emphasized the themes of unity and environmental sustainability.
Pulwama organized a main event at District Police Lines, where SSP Tanushree administered the national unity pledge. The parade featured contingents from police and paramilitary forces, reinforcing their dedication to national integrity. The district also launched an “Ekta Vriksh” plantation drive to promote environmental and social harmony.
In Budgam, the police held a Run for Unity from the railway station to T-Crossing, with over 300 students and youth participating. SSP Nikhil Borkar flagged off the event, which aimed to foster patriotic spirit. Similar runs and photo exhibitions took place across all police stations to engage the community in the message of unity.
Kupwara hosted a Run for Unity from Dakbanglow to Regipora Chowk, led by SSP Al Tahir Gillani. The event emphasized collective harmony, concluding with a pledge of unity and integrity. In Sopore, a Unity Run and parade were organized at Railway Crossing Amargarh, involving students, traders, and civil society, followed by a pledge and plantation drive at the Police Lines.
Handwara’s main event at DPL Handwara featured pledge-taking ceremonies, a march past, and a Run for Unity, with participation from youth and police personnel. An exhibition on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and a tree plantation drive further symbolized the commitment to peace and harmony.
Throughout these celebrations, J&K Police reaffirmed its dedication to fostering unity, peace, and communal harmony, honoring the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and promoting the ideals of national integrity across the valley.
As part of observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Hajin Police on Friday organised a “Run for Unity” programme at Hajin.
The event was flagged off by SDPO Sumbal Mohammad Nawaz Khanday in presence of SHO Hajin Qaiser Bashir, who encouraged the participants to uphold the values of national integration and unity.
Students from various schools across Hajin participated in the event with great enthusiasm. The run witnessed active participation from students, reflecting their commitment to the ideals of unity, integrity, and national integration.
The programme aimed to inspire the youth towards fostering national unity and strengthening the spirit of togetherness in society.
At the conclusion of the event, participants who secured the first, second, and third positions were felicitated with awards in recognition of their performance, discipline, and sportsmanship.
