AWANTIPORA: The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (DJMC), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), organised an educational trip for the students of MA Journalism and Mass Communication (Semester I and III) to Namblan area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir on Thursday.
The field trip aimed to supplement the course curriculum offered by the department. The exercise was meant to give students a practical learning experience, allowing them to implement concepts, learned in the classroom, in real-life environments. The trip helped students learn technicalities of landscape photography and videography.
Throughout the journey, students experimented with different techniques of framing, lighting, composition and motion capture with faculty members from the department accompanying them. The exercise being interactive, the students were able to discover the creative and technical side of visual storytelling.
Faculty members said that the visit not only increased students’ practical knowledge but also promoted collaboration between the two batches, enhancing idea sharing and teamwork.
These experience-based learning exercises are a core component of DJMC’s academic approach, fostering students to become professionally competent as well as creatively perceptive in the domain of media and communication.
