Welcomes recognition of Palestine State by Canada, UK, Aus, others
SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Dr. Molvi Umar Farooq, solemnized a Nikah ceremony at the esteemed Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Qasmia. Speaking on the occasion, Mirwaiz delivered a heartfelt reminder about the spiritual significance of Nikah in Islam, emphasizing that it is not merely a social contract, but an act of ‘ibadah a sacred act of worship and a fundamental part of one’s faith.
Addressing the gathering of scholars, students, family members, and well-wishers, Mirwaiz said: “The most important quality to look for in a spouse is not wealth or appearance, but character, values, and morals. Let us be guided by taqwa and akhlaaq, not materialistic or worldly considerations. Nikah is not a business transaction or a social show; it is an act of worship that carries deep spiritual responsibility.”
Mirwaiz reiterated the teachings of the Qur’an and the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who advised the Ummah to choose spouses based on religion and good character, as this forms the true foundation of a successful marriage and a healthy society.
He expressed concern over the growing trend of extravagant weddings, rising divorce rates, and material expectations around marriage, urging the community to return to the simplicity, sincerity, and sanctity that Islam advocates in marital life.
Mirwaiz concluded with a dua for the newlyweds and encouraged the younger generation to embrace the spirit of Islam in choosing their life partners, reminding families to facilitate marriages based on deen, not on wealth or status.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar in a separate statement issued here welcomed the recognition of the Palestinian State by Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Portugal.
“Palestinian suffering has surpassed all levels of endurance and patience, yet the world powers seem unmoved by it. Hopefully, such steps will speed up the implementation of a solution that brings relief, justice to the besieged Palestinians, and helps achieve lasting peace in the region,” he said. “We hope and pray that more countries wake up to the injustice and genocide being committed upon Palestinians and recognize their rights over their land.”
