‘Secrecy’ over CSC report betrayal of youth, murder of merit: Er. Ehtisham

SRINAGAR: Prominent social and student rights activist Er. Ehtisham Khan has strongly accused the Jammu & Kashmir government of deliberately withholding the Cabinet Sub-Committee’s report on the reservation policy, calling it a “flagrant betrayal of public trust” and a “calculated assault on merit”.
“Despite repeated assurances before and after elections to rationalize the reservation system, the report remains shrouded in secrecy,” Khan said in a statement issued here, adding, “This continued concealment of critical information is not only a political maneuver but a direct betrayal of the aspirations of the youth of J&K, who have long been promised transparency and justice.”
He further said, “For months, we have been told to wait—promises of reform, committees, and consultations. Yet, the report that could determine the future of thousands of aspirants remains hidden. This is not governance; this is a deliberate betrayal. Merit is being murdered under the guise of bureaucracy, and the youth are left blindfolded.”
Er. Ehtisham criticized the government’s silence and legalistic maneuvers, saying: “Every excuse—from ongoing deliberations to fake legal vetting—has been used to delay disclosure. Not a single word from the Chief Minister, ministers, or the sub-committee. Their strategic silence speaks louder than words: political arithmetic is valued over justice, and secrecy over transparency.”
He reiterated that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir will not tolerate continued “exploitation”. “We are not against reserved categories; we are against this irrational, politically motivated policy that sidelines merit. Justice matters. Merit matters. And this betrayal will not be forgotten or forgiven,” he said.
Khan concluded by urging the government to immediately release the Cabinet Sub-Committee report, initiate transparent reforms, and ensure that all aspirants have fair opportunities without further delays. “This movement will not die in files, committees, or political corridors. The people are watching, and the youth of J&K will hold the government accountable for every delayed promise,” he said.
