Bihar electoral roll revision nears completion, 98% electors covered: EC

NEW DELHI: The first phase of the Special Intensive Revision of the Bihar electoral roll is nearing completion, the poll panel said in its daily press update, asserting that the Election Commission aims to ensure “no eligible elector is left out and no ineligible person is included.”
As per the press update, as of July 23, 98.01 percent of electors have been covered. Twenty lakh deceased electors were reported, while 28 lakh permanently migrated electors were reported. Seven lakh electors were found enrolled at more than one place and 1 lakh electors were untraceable while 15 lakh electors’ forms were not returned.
The EC reiterated that the Draft Electoral Roll will be published on August 1, and the electors or parties can file objections or claims regarding the Draft Electoral Roll by September 1.
The EC further said that Bihar electors temporarily residing outside the state can fill forms online, through the ECINet app, or send printed forms to Booth Level Agents.
