NEW DELHI: Rishabh Pant has climbed to sixth place in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings following his twin centuries for India against England in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.

The 27-year-old scored 134 and 118 in successive innings, although India eventually fell to a five-wicket defeat. Pant’s sixth position is just one spot below his career-best ranking of fifth, achieved in 2022. However, he now holds his highest-ever rating of 801 points.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is the other Indian batter in the top 10, currently placed fourth with 851 points, just behind New Zealand’s Kane Williamson. Joe Root tops the rankings with a rating of 889, followed by fellow Englishman Harry Brook, who has 874 points. Travis Head’s strong showing in Australia’s win over West Indies saw him rise three places to 10th.

In the bowling charts, Jasprit Bumrah leads the Test rankings after his five-wicket haul at Headingley. Australia’s Josh Hazlewood also made gains, moving up one spot to fourth following a standout performance in the first Test against West Indies.

Despite a subdued showing in the series opener against England, Ravindra Jadeja remains at the top of the ICC Test all-rounder rankings.
