NEW DELHI: After a week’s hiatus due to the India-Pakistan conflicts, the IPL 2025 season will resume on May 17, Thursday, with seven teams remaining in contention for four spots in the Playoffs.
With the 17 remaining matches rejigged and slotted to new venues, certain teams will be deprived of the home advantage with the games limited to only six cities. While table-toppers, Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are on the verge of securing qualification, the competition could still get intense over the next week.
Gujarat Titans – 16 points
Best Possible Finish: 22 points
With only four teams likely to reach 18 points at the end of the league stage, GT are only a win away from the most probable cut-off in place for the Playoffs this year. With three games in hand, Gujarat are almost assured of breaching that mark.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Best Possible Finish: 22 points
Like GT, RCB are only a win away from 18 points. Bengaluru have two home games remaining and could even target a top-2 finish if they rack up wins in all of their remainig games.

Punjab Kings
Best Possible Finish: 21 points
With the game against DC set to be replayed, PBKS will be on their toes and require two wins from their remaining games to be assured of their first Playoffs berth in over a decade.

Mumbai Indians
Best Possible Finish: 18 points
Having blipped in their previous outing against the Titans in a last-ball finish, Mumbai are staring at the possibility of missing out of the Playoffs if they lose another league stage match.
Remaining games: v GT, v PBKS, v DC
Delhi Capitals
Best Possible Finish: 19 points
With 13 points in 11 games, DC will need to win all of their remaining games to cross the 18-point cut-off. Even if they were to slip up in one game, the Capitals run the danger of missing the Playoffs.

Kolkata Knight Riders
Best Possible Finish: 15 points
Running a slender chance to lower the necessary cut-off to even 15 points, KKR will need to win all of their remaining matches to stay in contention. If KKR win both games, they will require PBKS to lose all three. Moreover, Delhi will also need to beat Punjab while losing all other games.
Lucknow Super Giants
Best Possible Finish: 16 points
With three games in hand, Lucknow can sneek into the Playoffs if a host of other results go their way. If Rishabh Pant’s men win all three games, they will need Mumbai and DC to not win more than one game to qualify.
