‘A brutal assault on humanity, Kashmiriyat, peace’

SRINAGAR: The Purpose, a youth-led organization committed to justice, peace, and social responsibility, has expressed deepest condemnation of the heinous terrorist attack that shook the peaceful landscape of Pahalgam on Tuesday.
“The brutal killing of innocent tourists is not just an act of terror, but an open assault on the soul of Kashmir, its centuries-old legacy of communal harmony, and the values of Kashmiriyat we proudly uphold,” the organisation said in a press release issued here.
According to the statement, a high-level emergency meeting was convened this morning under the leadership of our Founder-President Mr Fayaz Ahmad Khan, where all members of the core executive body gathered to offer collective solidarity with the victims and discuss the way forward. Later in the evening, a solemn citizen-led candlelight vigil was held in Srinagar in memory of the departed souls, attended by residents from all walks of life, civil society members, students, and volunteers.
“This incident is not just a statistic—it is a massacre of peace, an act against the very idea of India and the shared brotherhood of our people,” said Khan. “The blood spilled in Pahalgam has shaken every peace-loving Kashmiri. We stand by the victims and their families—not just in word, but in action.”
Er Ehtisham Khan, Co-founder & Senior Vice President of The Purpose said, “This is not just a tragedy—it is a pain we feel in our bones. The whole of Kashmir mourns today. We, the people of Kashmir, do not recognize this bloodshed as our identity. The perpetrators of such barbarism do not represent us. The Purpose family is ready to assist the local administration and government authorities in any voluntary capacity required. Our doors are open, our hands are ready, and our hearts are aligned with the call of duty.”
On behalf of the entire Purpose family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with all those affected, Khan said, adding. “We also express our full support to the security agencies, the Jammu & Kashmir administration, and the Lieutenant Governor in their efforts to maintain peace and ensure justice.”
The organisation said Kashmiris have always believed in compassion, resilience, and brotherhood. “Let this tragedy not divide us but unite us to reaffirm our faith in peace, humanity, and the Constitution of India. We appeal to every citizen to uphold the spirit of unity and stand together in this dark hour,” The Purpose said, adding, “May the souls of the victims find eternal peace. May we, the living, honor them by striving harder for a just, inclusive, and terror-free tomorrow.”
