Srinagar: The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Amitava Chatterjee, has donated three computers and an equal number of printers to the Press Club of Kashmir under the bank’s Social Responsibility Scheme (SRS).
The club’s executive body expressed gratitude to the bank’s management for this generous gesture, which will enhance the facilities available to journalists. These computers, supported by internet services already installed at the club, will be accessible to both local and visiting journalists for filing stories and reports without hassle.
Additionally, Patron and President of the Press Club, Mohammad Saleem Pandit, has initiated discussions with the Rotary Club of Delhi and Mumbai to secure assistance for installing a dedicated internet service provider, ensuring round-the-clock connectivity. Efforts are also underway to seek financial aid from the Ministry of Petroleum under the SRS scheme for constructing a dedicated Press Club building at a suitable location.
The executive body has resolved not to seek assistance from the Union Territory government, which has declined to provide space for the club in Srinagar for undisclosed reasons.
