Police seizes vehicle of drug peddler

Srinagar: Police in Awantipora have seized vehicle (Four-Wheeler Car) valuing approximately Rs 3.30 lakhs, belonging to notorious drug peddler namely Jitender Singh son of Nirmal Singh resident of Gamraj Tral under section 68-Fof NDPS Act 1985, police said in a statement.
The vehicle was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of enquiry conducted by SHO Police Station Tral under the supervision of SDPO Tral which has been acquired from illicit trafficking in Narcotic drug and Psychotropic Substances by the said drug peddler.
Pertinently the said drug peddler is involved in case FIR No. 28/2024 NDPS Act of PS Tral and case FIR No. 139/2021 NDPS Act of PS Awantipora.
This operation reaffirms the commitment of Police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area hailed the initiative of Police with regard to the attachment of moveable property which was acquired been from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the Police District Awantipora.
Meanwhile, in a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Police in Anantnag have attached a residential property worth Rs 50 lakhs belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Gh Hassan Bandro alias Qasim son of Wali Mohammad resident of Sotkipora. This action was carried out by Police Station Srigufwara as part of the ongoing intensified efforts to combat the drug menace.
The accused, a habitual offender, has a history of involvement in drug trafficking and is implicated in multiple cases under the NDPS Act including FIR Nos. 04/2014 and 74/2021 at Police Station Srigufwara. These cases highlight his repeated attempts to undermine societal well-being through illegal activities.
The attachment of the property sends a strong message to those engaged in the illegal drug trade that such activities will not be tolerated. Police are determined to dismantle drug trafficking networks by targeting their financial resources and operational bases.
Police have reiterated their commitment to eradicating the drug menace and have urged the public to come forward with any information about drug trafficking or related activities. Cooperation from citizens is essential to safeguarding communities and ensuring a drug-free society.
