Srinagar: Continuing its relentless efforts to curb the menace of drugs, police have arrested three drug peddlers in Srinagar & Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson said that a police at a checkpoint established at Barthana, a vehicle (Alto) bearing registration number JK01J-7081 was intercepted with two persons on board. They have been identified Arif Ahmad Sheikh, son of Lateef Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Barthana Qamarwari; and Asif Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ab Razaq Sheikh, resident of Babapora Barthana. During search, 628 grams of Charas and 650 grams of Cannabis Powder were recovered from their possession. Subsequently, they have been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
He said, in Sopore, a Police party of Police Station Sopore, during patrolling at Chinkipora, arrested a drug peddler identified as Qaisar Rasool Khan, son of Ghulam Rasool Khan, resident of Faisalabad Chinkipora Sopore. During search, Police party was able to recover 7.36 grams of Brown Sugar from his possession.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, he added.
