This is an emerging desire among qualified youth
As far as the Public Administration subject is concerned, this discipline is very interesting. Earlier, it was considered a branch of the subject of Political Science. Now, it has been regarded as a separate discipline. Public Administration as a subject has been introduced in various universities and colleges across our country.
In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, at the college level, a few Assistant Professor posts have already been created for this subject. In some colleges of the UT, students who have opted for this subject are attending their regular classes and showing a lot of interest in it. This is because Public Administration offers a way to prepare for various competitive exams, especially for appearing in the JKAS and IAS exams.
Public Administration not only deals with public affairs but also focuses on the public management system and organizational behaviour. This subject teaches us how public policies can be formulated and implemented according to the will of the people and in the interest of the nation. Many students want to choose newly introduced subjects like Business Administration/Business Studies, Bioresources, Biochemistry, Anthropology, Tourism Management, and the very interesting subject of Public Administration.
In the recent past, many academicians and experts have suggested and worked towards introducing Public Administration in all higher secondary schools of Jammu and Kashmir UT. There is a large number of unemployed and highly qualified people who have completed their PG in various subjects. Among them, some have also earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration. On the other hand, there are also many in-service teachers who have completed their postgraduation in the same discipline. Their genuine demand is for the introduction of this important subject at the +2 level.
It is noteworthy that the JKBOSE authorities have already prepared a syllabus for Public Administration for classes 11th and 12th. Several stakeholders have made representations regarding the introduction of this subject. Three months ago, the School Education Department took a bold step to consider the suggestions given by experts and stakeholders. There is a growing demand for the introduction of Public Administration at the +2 level for the benefit of the entire student community.
