Police arrest three drug peddlers in Baramulla, Kulgam; seize contraband

SRINAGAR: As part of its ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes, the police have arrested three individuals involved in drug peddling in Baramulla and Kulgam, seizing significant quantities of contraband substances.
In Baramulla, a team from the Police Station, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), conducted a checkpoint at Eco Park. The police intercepted a suspect identified as Roshan Ahmad Awan, son of Mohammad Ahmad Awan, a resident of Paranpeelan Uri. During a search, officers recovered 65 grams of a charas-like substance from his possession. Awan was arrested and taken into custody at Police Station Baramulla, where he remains.
Meanwhile, in Kulgam, a police team led by the SHO of Police Station Qaimoh set up a checkpoint at Khudwani Byepass (NHW-44). There, they apprehended two suspicious individuals—Mohd Imran Bhat, son of Tariq Ahmad Bhat, and Mohd Nawaz Lohar, son of Ghulam Nabi Lohar, both residents of Mohar, Reasi. A search of their persons led to the recovery of 30 grams of charas and 600 grams of ground cannabis-like substances. Both individuals were arrested and are currently in police custody.
Cases have been filed under the relevant sections of the law at the respective police stations, and investigations are ongoing.
The police urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug peddling or other crimes. The police reaffirm their commitment to taking stringent action against drug-related offenses and ensuring the safety of the community.
