Srinagar: Former legislator and ex-vice-chairman Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Nizam-ud-Din Bhat on Wednesday joined the Congress here, a day ahead of last date for filling nomination papers for third phase of Assembly election.
Reports said that Bhat joined the grand old party in the presence of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief Tariq Hameed Karra in Srinagar.
The development comes a day ahead of the last date of filling nominations papers for third phase of Jammu and Kashmir polls on Thursday.
Bhat is yet to file his nomination papers for Bandipora constituency that will vote in the third phase of J&K polls on October 1.
