PAMPORE: As part of a public outreach programme and to take first-hand appraisal of the issues of the general public at their doorsteps, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Pulwama Showkat Ahmad on Wednesday chaired a Block Diwas outreach programme at Townhall Khrew area of Pampore Tehsil in Pulwama district. He listened to various issues and demands of people meant for the overall welfare and development of the area.
The programme was attended by Tehsildar Pampore Malik Asif Ahmad, BDO Pampore, ZEO Pampore Abdul Rasheed, ZPEO Pampore Masrat Hussain Andrabi, officers from the line departments, besides the civil society members and a large gathering of locals.
The public and their representatives highlighted several issues and demands seeking augmentation of power and water supply, better medicare facilities, improvement of roads and other important issues.
The ADDC Pulwama listened to the issues of the public patiently and assured that all their genuine demands would be redressed in a time-bound manner.
Speaking to Kashmir Reader, ADDC Pulwama said, “Everyone knows that the Jammu and Kashmir government started the Block Divas programme to address public grievances. Under this programme, officers visit various areas of the district to listen to people’s complaints and try to resolve them.”
He added, “This is an effective step. Due to the model code of conduct, this process was halted for some time, but now the programme is starting again. Under this programme, we are trying to listen to the issues and resolve them. As part of this series, a programme was organized in Khrew today where people’s issues were heard, and officers were instructed to play their role in resolving these issues. Some major issues were also heard, and people were assured that these issues would be conveyed to the administration.”
