Srinagar: The crescent moon for Muharram, the first month of the Islamic lunar calendar, has not been sighted and the first day of the month will fall on July 8, concerned authorities said here on Saturday.
Accordingly, Ashura — the 10th day of Muharram to commemorate the supreme sacrifice rendered by Imam Hussain (AS) and his 72 companions at Karbala, will fall on July 17.
