In the apple town of Sopore resides an extraordinary individual whose name evokes images of kindness, empathy and unwavering support: Dr Irfan. As a beacon of hope and compassion within our community, Dr Irfan’s actions have touched countless lives, including mine, with his selfless guidance and boundless belief in the human spirit.
Amidst my darkest days, when despair threatened to overwhelm me, Dr Irfan emerged as a guiding light, offering solace and support when I needed it most. His words of encouragement echoed within me, instilling a newfound sense of hope and determination. Like a compassionate elder brother, he enveloped me in his care, believing in me even when I struggled to believe in myself.
One poignant memory remains etched in my heart as a testament to Dr Irfan’s boundless compassion. On a solemn afternoon, as we journeyed to offer our prayers in Aziziya, Jeddah, he sensed the weight of my burdens and spoke words of reassurance that resonated deeply within me. “Fear not,” he said, his voice filled with compassion. “Even if opportunities elude you here in Saudi Arabia, I will facilitate your return to India and support your re-entry with a new visa. All expenses will be taken care of.” At that moment, his unwavering commitment lifted a burden from my shoulders, infusing me with renewed hope and gratitude.
When, on the 9th of April 2024, I received a message from Kudu company about my job agreement, I started crying like a baby, tears falling from my cheeks. I immediately shared this news with Dr Irfan. His reply, “Alhamdulillah” three times, showed me how much he cared and how genuinely happy he was about the news of my job. At that moment, I felt compelled to write something about this great human being.
But Dr Irfan’s lessons went beyond mere words. He taught me the true meaning of wealth—that it is not merely for personal gain but a means to uplift those in need. He exemplified this principle in his actions, showing that the blessings bestowed upon us by Allah are meant to be shared with those less fortunate.
As Eid approached, Dr Irfan prepared for a vacation yet ensured my welfare in his absence. With the assistance of his neighbour, the equally compassionate Mr G. M. Sahab, he secured my lodging and other necessities, leaving no detail overlooked. Before his departure, he provided me with every assistance for my needs—a gesture of immeasurable significance in my life.
I found solace in the company of Mr G. M. Sahab, whose warm embrace and genuine concern made the occasion truly memorable. His kindness and attentiveness touched the depths of my soul, leaving an indelible mark.

Furthermore, amidst the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, our Kashmiri community in Jeddah demonstrated remarkable solidarity and compassion. They provided assistance to many people who were helpless, arranging for their return to Kashmir and helping to rehabilitate them during this crucial time. This display of unity and compassion underscores the strength and resilience of our community, teaching us invaluable lessons about the power of coming together in times of crisis.
As I reflect on the journey that led me to this moment, tears of gratitude fill my eyes. Dr Irfan and the compassionate souls of the Kashmiri community have shown me the true meaning of humanity. From your office, amidst your demanding schedule, you always found time to reach out and make sure I was alright. Your constant attention and support made me feel safe and cherished as if I were part of your own family.
