BANDIPORA: A 50-year-old man slipped to death in the Jhelum River in Gund Prang village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday.
Locals said the man identified as Abdul Rahim Lone, a resident of the Gund Prang area of Hajin, slipped into Jhelum while fetching drinking water, and drowned.
Shortly after the incident, locals and a police party from Police Station Hajin rushed to the spot and immediately initiated a rescue operation to retrieve the body, they said, adding that the body was recovered hours after the drowning.
After completing legal formalities, the body was handed over to his family for the final rites.
