PULWAMA: Polling material and staff were dispatched to Pulwama district on Sunday under the supervision of District Election Officer Pulwama Dr Basharat Qayoom, amidst tight security measures for the Srinagar parliamentary seat.
On Monday, votes will be cast in the Pulwama district for the Srinagar parliamentary seat elections. In preparation for this, EVMs, voting material and staff have been dispatched to the respective polling stations ahead of the elections in the presence of the District Election Officer.
On Sunday morning, the process began to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process. Strict security arrangements have been implemented in the district, alongside various measures aimed at encouraging active voter participation.
Four strong rooms have been established in Pulwama district, from which materials and staff have been dispatched to 479 polling stations. It’s noteworthy that the district has a voter population of four lakh eligible to cast their votes in the parliamentary elections on Monday, officials told Kashmir Reader.
Speaking to the media persons, Dr Basharat said, “We have four assembly segments, and we are dispatching the Rajpora segment where there are 135 polling stations. All the necessary arrangements have been made, including polling parties and force and police personnel. The dispatch has started from our location and is ongoing at other places as well. We expect that our teams will reach their respective destinations within the next 2-3 hours.”
He added, “Tomorrow is our country’s biggest festival, and approximately four lakh and four thousand of our voters will come to their respective polling stations and cast their votes.”
