New Delhi: Hours after East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir, another Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentarian has asked party chief JP Nadda to be relieved of direct electoral duties.
Jayant Sinha, an MP from Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh, said that he wants to focus on “combating global climate change”.
“I have requested Hon’ble Party President Shri JP Nadda ji to relieve me of my direct electoral duties so that I can focus my efforts on combating global climate change in Bharat and around the world. Of course, I will continue to work with the party on economic and governance issues. I have had the privilege of serving the people of Bharat and Hazaribagh for the past ten years,” Sinha wrote on ‘X’.
Sinha thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the opportunities he was given.
“Moreover, I have been blessed by the many opportunities provided by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji, and the BJP leadership. My sincerest gratitude to all of them. Jai Hind!” he added.
This comes shortly after Gambhir announced similar decision and said that he wants to focus on his cricketing committments, indicating he won’t be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“I have requested Party President Jagat Prakash Nadda to relieve me of my political duties so that I can focus on my upcoming cricket commitments,” he wrote on ‘X’.
“I sincerely thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for giving me the opportunity to serve the people. Jai Hind,” he added.
Prior to the 2019 general elections, Gambhir had joined the BJP and contest from East Delhi constituency. He had defeated AAP’s Atishi.
