Inaugurates, lays foundation for many new works in Pulwama
PULWAMA: Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, attended multiple programs in Pulwama district today. She inaugurated the newly constructed Jamia Masjid at Newa, which was built after 30 years on Dr Andrabi’s initiative. The foundation stone for this masjid was laid by her a few months ago.
Additionally, she inaugurated the newly constructed Shopping Complex by the Waqf Board at Kakapora and laid the foundation stone of Hazrat Mehda Bab Rishi (RA) Complex at Kakapora. Later, Dr Andrabi met with several public delegations in Pulwama and addressed a public gathering. She was accompanied by Waqf Board Members Syed Mohammed Hussain, Dr Ghulaam Nabi Haleem, Magistrate Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, Executive Engineer Tariq Kaloo, and socio-political leader from Pulwama, Arshad Bhat, among others. Representatives from various departments also accompanied her during the visit.
In her address, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi stated that the work culture in the Waqf Board has completely changed since 2022. “Transparency, accountability, and public connection are the new norms of the Waqf Board. For the first time in its history, the Waqf Board is undertaking construction works at all major shrines using its resources. Previously, this money used to go into the pockets of privileged classes. Now, the money from the shrines and all properties of the Waqf Board is being spent on projects to upgrade facilities at the shrines,” she said.
Dr Andrabi mentioned that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, J&K has undergone significant transformation, and the working system of the Waqf Board has also changed drastically. “People now rely on the Waqf Board and its decisions. They believe in the Board and have great hopes in us. We are committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the people,” she said.
