AWANTIPORA: Professor and Chief Scientist of KVK Malangpora Pulwama, Prof. Javaid Ahmad Mugloo, along with scientific staff, led a group of 60 trainees, rural youth, and farmers from KVK Malangpora on a training-cum-exposure tour to SKUAST-K Shalimar and Directorate of Agriculture Lalmandi, Srinagar on Thursday.
The initiative, part of skill development training programs on “year-round mushroom cultivation,” sponsored by District Administration Pulwama under the AVSAR Scheme and MANAGE Hyderabad under the STRY program, aims to enrich participants’ knowledge and skills in agricultural practices.
The tour provides firsthand experience and insights into innovative farming techniques, sustainable practices, and modern technologies in mushroom production. Participants will visit various mushroom units at Lal Mandi and SKUAST K Shalimar, interact with experts, and observe successful mushroom cultivation practices in the valley.
Prof. Javaid Ahmad Mugloo, head of KVK Malangpora, stated, “Today, we have organized an exposure visit for 60 trainees from SKUAST-Kashmir’s KVK Malangpora as part of a skill development two 7-day training program. One program is sponsored by the district administration Pulwama under the AVSAR scheme, and the other is managed by the director of extension SKUAST-Kashmir. Today marks the sixth day of the training, and we have flagged them off for the exposure visit. They will first visit SKUAST-Kashmir to observe mushroom cultivation units and processing centers, understanding the scientific basics of cultivation. Then, they will visit Lal Mandi Directorate of Agriculture to learn about mushroom cultivation techniques, processing, packaging, and marketing.”
The exposure visit aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to establish successful mushroom cultivation units, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among farmers in the region.
