Pampore: A comprehensive training program on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) was conducted at Townhall Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, under the supervision of Malik Mohammad Yaqoob, Chairman of the Municipal Committee Pampore, on Tuesday.
Malik Yaqoob, in his dual initiative, not only initiated the EVM training program but also launched a door-to-door Aadhaar card update issuance process to simplify the experience for residents.
Speaking to Kashmir Reader, Malik disclosed that, in accordance with the directives of the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, a team was dispatched to conduct EVM awareness training. The training encompassed the correct procedures for casting votes in various elections, including Panchayat elections, ULB elections, Assembly elections, and Parliament elections, ensuring that people comprehend the voting process.
The ongoing training, conducted in every village, aims to guide people on how to cast their votes. The election department personnel, particularly Farooq Ahmad in charge of the training in Pampore, are actively involved in the sessions. Civil society members and other participants receive instructions on the effective use of electronic voting machines.
Yaqoob further explained his efforts in addressing Aadhaar-related issues in the Pampore Constituency. He wrote a letter to the operation manager responsible for Aadhaar, emphasizing the challenges faced by residents who had to travel from remote villages for updates. Consequently, a team has been dispatched to visit every village for Aadhaar updates, eliminating the need for residents to travel to Pampore.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the LG government, Malik Yaqoob highlighted the historic initiative of reaching machines to homes in Jammu and Kashmir. Residents in town areas are being taught the process of casting votes for the first time, marking a significant step towards voter education.
