On the occasion, Prof. Dil Mohammad Maqdoomi said, “Our SKUAST-Kashmir is actively working on this. KVK Anantnag, last year conducted trials on Sorghum for natural farming. They successfully produced seeds, and for the first time, they have provided farmers in this region with the new crop through innovative methods.”
Director Extension SKAUST-K flagged off the ‘Bicycle Man’ for Jammu.
Prajapati, also known as the ‘Bicycle Man of Agriculture’, has been on a mission covering 1,11,111 kilometres on his organic bicycle since April 2019. The purpose of his journey is to raise awareness and promote organic farming in India.
He was inspired to take this mission forward after he learnt about the only train that carries cancer patients every day from Bhatinda to Bikaner for their treatment. It is reported that there is one cancer patient in every home in Bhatinda.
Neeraj expressed gratitude to the entire Agriculture Department, SKUAST-Kashmir with special mention to KVK Anantnag, for their hospitality during the reception and felicitation. He emphasized that the primary objective of his Bicycle Yatra is to raise awareness about Millet cultivation among farmers across the country.
