Srinagar: Delving into the profound wisdom nestled within the Vedas,, the Department of Sanskrit at the University of Kashmir, in collaboration with Maharshi Sandipani Rastriya Vedvidya Pratishthan Ujjain, hosted a three-day National Seminar centered on the theme, “Relevance of the Vedas in the Modern Context.” The seminar brought together leading experts, academicians, and enthusiasts to delve into the profound significance of the Vedas in our contemporary lives.
The inaugural session was graced by the presence of Prof. Farooq Ahmad Masoodi, Dean of Academic Affairs at the University of Kashmir. Prof. Masoodi emphasized the unique and transformative power of Vedic education, underscoring its core focus on spiritual growth. In the fast-paced, modern world where the cacophony of daily life often drowns out the whispers of inner wisdom, he stressed the urgent need to revisit the age-old knowledge contained within the Vedas.

The seminar’s keynote address was delivered by Prof. Rajeshwar Prasad Mishra, faculty member at Kurukshetra University. Prof. Mishra illuminated the scientific, environmental, and cultural relevance of the Vedas. He underscored how the ancient texts offer a profound understanding of not just spiritual matters but also scientific principles, environmental stewardship, and cultural wisdom that resonate with the challenges and opportunities of our modern world.
Dr. Nissar Ahmad Mir, the Registrar of the University of Kashmir, commended the organizers for convening a seminar on such an important theme. Guest of honour, Prof. Prafulla Kumar Mishra, Vice Chairman of Maharshi Sandipani Rastriya Vedvidya Pratishthan Ujjain, presented an insightful perspective, emphasizing that the Vedas are not merely sacred or religious texts but are, in fact, a compendium of scientific knowledge.
