Bandipora: In a significant crackdown on the illicit drug trade, Police on Saturday announced the seizure of a vehicle valued at over 20 lakh rupees belonging to a notorious drug peddler
The confiscation order against Amir Rashid Sheikh, son of Ab Rashid Sheikh from Shilvat Sumbal, was issued under Section 68F in connection with a case registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The police spokesperson confirmed that Amir Rashid Sheikh was implicated in a case registered under FIR Number 147/23 under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act. His involvement in this case had raised serious concerns, leading to swift action by the authorities.
The seized vehicle, a CRETA valued at an estimated Rs 20,50,000, has been forwarded to the relevant authorities for further confirmation and legal proceedings.
This decisive action aims to send a strong deterrent message to potential offenders involved in the drug trade, underlining law enforcement’s commitment to curbing the drug menace in the region.
The Bandipora Police, in an official statement on their social media account, emphasized the issuance of the confiscation order and the seizure of the high-value vehicle, marking a significant step in the fight against drug-related crimes in the area.
“Confiscation order has been issued U/S 68F against one drug peddler namely Amir Rashid Sheikh S/o Ab Rashid Sheikh R/o Shilvat Sumbal.Vehicle CRETA used for the commission of offence valuing Rs 20,50,000 has been confiscated and forwarded to concerned authority for confirmation.The accused was Involved in Case FIR Number 147/23 U/S 8/21 of NDPS Act,” Bandipora Police said in a post on ‘x’ formally known as Twitter.
