Ganderbal: As part of the “Meri Mati Meri Desh” campaign cum mega event proposed by Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, National Service Scheme (NSS) Units of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organised Tree Plantation, Panch Pran Pledge Taking, Honouring Defence Personal & Youva Portal Orientation cum Registration for the NSS volunteers at Tulmulla Campus here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Finance Officer, Dean DSW and Programme Coordinator-NSS, Dr. Mehraj ud Din Shah said the objective of holding the programme is to encourage youth to be part of different developmental programmes of Government of India and to extend social service to the local society. He highlighted various components of the campaign including Deep Dive-Silaphalakam, Vasudha Vandhan (planting 75 saplings), Veeron Ka Vandan, Hoisting of National Flag and Singing of Rashtra Gaan and Panch Pran Pledge.
Addressing the volunteers, guest of honour Mr. Gulzar Ahmad Baba, who retired as Havildar in Indian Army, and served the Nation in different parts of the country including Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab etc highlighted the significance of social service through the service of nation. He also interacted with volunteers and provided guidance to the ways and means to serve the nation in different capacities.
Programme Officers NSS Dr. Muzamil Shah, Mr. Dinesh Kumar K, Dr. Nusrat Jaben, volunteers of three Units of the varsity and staffers were also present.
