SRINAGAR: The Valedictory Function of the Ten Days Advanced Entrepreneurial Skill Development Programme on “Processing, Preservation and Marketing of Milk as Functional Food”, sponsored by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India and organized by the Division of Livestock Products Technology, FVSc & AH, SKUAST-Kashmir, Shuhama was held at the Faculty Outreach centre, FVSc & AH, on Friday.
The function was chaired by Prof. M.T. Banday, Dean, FVSc & AH. During the event, Dr. Sheikh Rafeh Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Division of Livestock Products Technology, FVSc & AH welcomed the guests and participants to the event. Dr. Asif H Sofi, Associate Professor and Training Coordinator presented a brief report of the training programme. He apprised that the training programme was attended by participants from diverse backgrounds including post graduate scholars, dairy related business men and other aspiring entrepreneurs.
He also thanked MSME, GoI for sponsoring the training programme. Eminent experts of the subject from National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, Haryana; GADVASU, Ludhiana; ICAR, New Delhi; Officers from NABARD, JKEDI, JKMPCL, besides the experienced scientists from SKUAST-Kashmir delivered lectures on various topics related to the theme of the training programme.
The participants were also provided hands-on training on the development and quality evaluation of different milk products in the laboratory. Dean, FVSc & AH, in his address congratulated all the coordinators (Dr. Asif H Sofi, Dr. Sheikh Rafeh Ahmad, Dr. Ajaz A Dar, Dr. Heena Jalal, Dr. Tahir Nazir and Dr. Mir Rovida) for organizing such an important training programme and stressed upon the participants to take dairy as a business enterprise. He also impressed upon conducting more such types of training programmes in future as well for sensitization of the stakeholders to venture into entrepreneurial opportunities available in the contemporary times. The function was concluded with a Vote of Thanks, by Prof. Abdul Hai, Head, Division of VAHE and Incharge, Faculty Outreach Centre, FVSc & AH, Shuhama.
