SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq paid rich tribute to Ameer-ul-Mu’mineen Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA) on his martyrdom anniversary, describing him as one of the greatest statesmen, reformers and champions of justice not only in Islamic history but in the history of humanity. He said that Hazrat Umar’s (RA) legacy of just governance, accountability, compassion and service to the people continues to inspire societies and leaders across generations.
Mirwaiz said that Hazrat Umar (RA), the second Caliph of Islam, established enduring standards of governance rooted in justice, equality before the law and responsibility towards the welfare of all people. His unwavering commitment to truth and fairness earned him the title Al-Farooq—the one who distinguishes between right and wrong.
He said that the life of Hazrat Umar (RA) offers timeless lessons in moral courage, humility and public service, reminding people that true leadership lies in serving humanity with integrity and justice.
Paying homage to the great companion of Prophet Muhammad ï·º, Mirwaiz urged people, especially the younger generation, to study and draw inspiration from the exemplary life and character of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA).
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday visited Bemina to offer condolences to Amir Wani on the demise of his father, Mohammad Yousuf Wani, who passed away recently after a prolonged illness.
The Mirwaiz expressed his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for the maghfirah of the deceased.
Amir Wani, is well known in Kashmir’s literary and academic circles for his writings on philosophy, religion, literature and science. An Electrical Engineering graduate from NIT Srinagar, he has contributed to several publications and delivered lectures at various academic institutions in the region.
Mirwaiz also lauded Amir Wani’s perseverance and courage in the face of physical challenges and expressed support for his ongoing struggle for justice and equal opportunity. Referring to the recent proceedings before the Central Administrative Tribunal concerning his recruitment as a Junior Engineer, the Mirwaiz appreciated his principled stand for the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities and hoped that justice would prevail.
The Tribunal had recently observed that disability cannot be a ground for exclusion and directed that a post be kept vacant pending further consideration of his case. Mirwaiz extended his full support to Amir in his fight for justice.
