AWANTIPORA: The International Centre for Spiritual Studies (ICSS), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), organized a Book Release and Prize Distribution Ceremony at the university campus on Sunday.
During the programme, the books Sīrah of Prophet Muḥammad (PBUH): Compassion Beyond Borders and Shāh-e-Hamadān: Life, Legacy & Thought were formally released along with the second volume of The International Journal of Spirituality and the completed research project Rasā’il Shāh-e Hamdān.
The ceremony was chaired by Vice Chancellor, IUST, Prof. Shakil A. Romshoo, while Prof. Shamim Ahmad Shah, Registrar, IUST, attended as Guest of Honour, and attended by the Deans, Heads of departments and university officers.Addressing the gathering, Prof. Romshoo appreciated the academic and research contributions of ICSS in preserving and promoting Kashmir’s spiritual and intellectual heritage. He emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research, preservation of indigenous knowledge systems, and promotion of peace, ethics, and cultural understanding through academic initiatives.
Earlier, Prof. G. N. Khaki, Director ICSS, presented a report on the activities and achievements of the Centre and outlined its future plans in research, publications, manuscript preservation, and international academic collaborations. On the occasion, meritorious students who secured top positions in the Sīrah Quiz organized by the Centre were also felicitated with cheques and merit certificates by the Vice Chancellor.
Among others present were Dr. Afroz Ahmad Bisati, Dean School of Humanities and Social Sciences; Dr. Monisa Qadiri, Dean of Students; Dr. Peer Bilal Ahmad, Director DIQA; and Mr. Qazi Qamar Iqbal Qari, Dean School of Architecture, Planning and Geomatics. The programme was moderated by Mr. Ghazi Nazir Naqash, Assistant Professor, ICSS, while the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Aamir Habib, Assistant Professor, ICSS.
