Hilal Sajad Secretary, Raqib Ahmad Deputy Secretary; 432 votes polled
HAJIN: Government M.L. Higher Secondary School Hajin on Tuesday conducted student council elections to elect the Secretary and Deputy Secretary after nearly three decades.
Principal GHSS Hajin, Mehboob Ahmad Khan, said that a proper election process was followed, including the issuance of notification, submission of nomination forms and campaigning by the candidates. He said that the aim of the election was to promote democratic values and leadership qualities among students.
Senior Lecturer Shakir Shafi, while giving details about the election, said that polling was held on Tuesday and witnessed enthusiastic participation by students. He said that a total of 432 votes were polled during the election.
Hilal Sajad, son of Sajad Ahmad and a resident of Hakbara, secured 130 votes and was elected as Secretary, while Raqib Ahmad, who secured 116 votes, was elected as Deputy Secretary.
The newly elected student leaders took oath on the Constitution of India and pledged to work for the welfare of students, maintain discipline and contribute towards the development of the institution.
