Srinagar: In its ongoing effort to combat the drug menace and curb illegal assets derived from narcotics trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Anantnag has attached an immovable property valued at approximately ₹1.10 crore under the provisions of Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act.
“The property in question is a double-storeyed residential house owned by Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Gh. Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, a known drug peddler from Nowshara Srigufwara. The attachment was carried out by Police Station Srigufwara in connection with FIR No. 54/2025, registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Authorities identified this property as an illegally acquired asset linked to the proceeds of narcotics trafficking and proceeded with legal action as per due process,” a police spokesperson said.
He said this move reflects the police’s unwavering commitment to dismantling the entire narcotics ecosystem, which includes targeting not only drug peddlers but also the properties and financial networks generated through illegal activities. Such stringent measures are part of the ongoing efforts to weaken the economic underpinnings of drug trafficking and send a strong message that illicit assets will not be tolerated, the spokesperson said.
The police have reaffirmed their resolve to continue such actions against all individuals involved in narcotics-related crimes, aiming to build a safer, drug-free society.
