SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Department of Science & Technology, in collaboration with the College of Temperate Sericulture, Mirgund, SKUAST-K, successfully organized a one-day workshop on “Technology Innovation on Smart Agriculture” on Monday to mark National Technology Day.
The workshop began with a welcome address by Dr. Khursheed A. Dar (Organizing Secretary), who briefed participants about the objectives and significance of the programme. The event was graced by Prof. Raihana Habib Kant, Director Extension, SKUAST-K; Mr. Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Joint Director, JKST&IC, DST-Kashmir; Prof. Mushtaq Rasool Mir, Assoc. Dean, CoTS, Mirgund; Dr. Tariq Ahmad Sofi, Scientist, Division of Plant Pathology, SKUAST-K; Dr. Latief Ahmad Sofi, Scientist, Division of Agrometeorology, SKUAST-K; and other scientists of the College.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Raihana Habib highlighted the significance of celebrating National Technology Day and emphasized the crucial role of technology in driving innovation, scientific progress, national development, and self-reliance. She encouraged researchers, students, and academic institutions to actively contribute towards strengthening the country’s technological future and promoting greater awareness in science and technology initiatives.
The workshop witnessed the participation of scientists, faculty members, and students of the College of Temperate Sericulture. Students from Higher Secondary School Mirgund and Madina Public School also attended the event. During the workshop, experts delivered lectures on technological innovations across various fields of smart agriculture. Participants were provided hands-on training on modern sericulture practices, innovative low-cost technologies, and emerging opportunities in the sericulture sector.
The programme concluded successfully at 3:00 PM with active participation from all attendees.
