SRINAGAR: The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organised a dignified book release function at the Seminar Hall of the Academy Complex, Lal Mandi, Srinagar, where two Kashmiri poetry collections—Bargus Bargus Koran Vuchh by Dr. Mohammad Idrees and Ravemet cheh by Mehfoozah Nabi—were formally released. A large number of writers, scholars, and literary enthusiasts attended the event.
Prof. Mohammad Zaman Azurda presided over the function, while Prof. Gulshan Majeed attended as the Chief Guest. The authors of the books and Editor of the Academy, Jawaid Iqbal Khan, were also present in the presedium.
On the occasion, Shabir Ahmad Shabir and Dr. Ghulam Nabi Haleem presented scholarly and critical papers on the poetry collections and highlighted their thematic depth, artistic merit and significance in contemporary Kashmiri poetry. The speakers appreciated the creative contributions of both poets and remarked that such literary works play an important role in promoting Kashmiri language and literature.
In his welcome address, Jawaid Iqbal Khan greeted the guests and stated that the Academy has been consistently working for the promotion of regional languages, particularly Kashmiri language and literature and is continuing its efforts to strengthen literary traditions.
In his presidential remarks, Prof. Mohammad Zaman Azurda observed that Kashmiri poetry has always served as an effective medium for expressing the cultural identity and inner sensibilities of society and that such works represent the living literary tradition and creative continuity of Kashmiri literature.
Chief Guest Prof. Gulshan Majeed congratulated both authors and described the poetry collections as valuable additions to contemporary Kashmiri literature. He emphasized the importance of creative expression in the mother tongue and appreciated the literary initiatives of the Academy. He also expressed hope that such programmes would help connect the younger generation with their language and literary heritage.
The proceedings of the function were conducted by Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Rather in a graceful manner. The programme concluded with an interactive session between the audience and the authors, during which various aspects of Kashmiri poetry were discussed in detail.
