AWANTIPORA: The Court of the Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Awantipora, has awarded community service to two individuals namely Zahoor Ahmad Lone son of Ab Khaliq Lone resident of Chersoo and Hilal Ahmad Sheikh son of Ab Ahad Sheikh resident of Bahoo Awantipora who were apprehended by Police Station Awantipora for being found in a drunken state in Main Chowk Awantipora and Bahoo Awantipora Chowk areas of Police Station Awantipora.
As part of the judgment, the offenders have been directed to perform cleaning duties in the Court Complex as a form of community service, a police spokesperson said in a statement, adding that this action by the Court is a step towards promoting accountability and social responsibility through reformative measures.
Police welcomed the decision of the court, saying this not only serves as a deterrent but also helps in instilling a sense of civic duty among citizens. “The police remain committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring a safe and responsible community environment,” the spokesperson said.
