BHOPAL: Accusing the Congress of falsely trying to discredit the BJPgovernment in the state, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadavon Friday announced that his government has paid Rs 52,000 crore toover 1.25 crore women under the LaadliBehna Yojana in the past threeyears.
The CM transferred Rs 1,836 crore to the beneficiaries as the scheme’spayment for this month at an event organised at the Ghatigaon area ofthe Gwalior district on Friday.
Countering the Congress’ claim that the scheme was merely an electiongimmick, Dr Yadav emphasised that the success of the LaadliBehnaYojana is the answer to the Congress. “When the scheme was launched,the Opposition had called it an election gimmick. In three years, Rs52,000 crore has already been given,” he reiterated.
Yadav said more than 1.25 crore women received Rs 1,836 crore directlyin their bank accounts this month. “Many women have started their ownwork with this money,” he added.
The chief minister said the scheme has benefited women across thestate and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting welfareinitiatives for all sections.
