Noor Alam’s unbearable grief is not a political story. It is a human one — and humanity is failing to listen.

Recently, I saw news circulating on social media that deeply disturbed me. It was about a young boy named Noor Alam who was weeping and missing his family members who had been killed the night before. Eighteen members of his family lost their lives during the tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Just reading about it was painful, but seeing the boy crying and calling out for his loved ones was something that shook my whole body.
The boy was badly missing his father and mother, calling them again and again, as if hoping they would respond. His innocent voice, filled with sorrow, reflected a pain that no child should ever experience. He was a boy who had simple dreams, dreams of celebrating Eid with his friends, planning how to dress, thinking about wearing new clothes, and enjoying the happiness that comes with the festival. Like every child, he must have been excited about sharing sweets, meeting relatives, and smiling freely.
But when he woke up in the morning, everything had changed. The world he knew was no longer there. Nothing was left in his family. In a single night, he lost eighteen members of his family. The happiness he had been dreaming about turned into unbearable grief. Instead of celebrating Eid, he is now surrounded by loss and loneliness. Instead of laughter, there is silence. Instead of warmth and love, there is emptiness.
This incident has not happened only today. Many similar incidents have taken place in the past. Innocent people have lost their lives due to conflicts and tensions between nations. Time and again, we see children, women, and common people suffering because of issues they have no control over. It is always the ordinary families who pay the highest price.
My question here is: Who is responsible for this? Who will answer for the tears of this child? Who will bring back his parents and his family? These are questions that arise in the heart of every human being who witnesses such tragedy.
I want to make it clear that I am not supporting Pakistan or Afghanistan, nor am I interested in politics. My concern is about humanity. A young boy has lost everything in this blessed month of Ramadan, a month in which we share our food and happiness with others, especially with the poor and the sick, to see smiles on their faces. Ramadan teaches us patience, kindness, forgiveness, and unity. It reminds us to control our anger and avoid hurting others.
But seeing what is happening between two Muslim countries raises painful questions. Does Islam teach us to shed each other’s blood? Does it teach us to kill one another? Islam teaches peace, mercy, and brotherhood. It teaches us to respect human life and to protect the innocent. The killing of innocent people can never be justified in the name of religion. Violence and hatred go against the true spirit of faith.
When children lose their families due to war or tension, it is not just a political issue — it becomes a humanitarian crisis. A child does not understand borders, power struggles, or political decisions. He only understands love, security, and family. Taking that away from him is a loss that cannot be measured in words.
My humble request is to world peace organisations like the United Nations to please stop wars and prevent the killing of innocent lives. Their responsibility is to maintain peace and security in the world. Strong and sincere efforts must be made to resolve conflicts through dialogue and understanding rather than violence.
We have come into this world for a special purpose. We are meant to rise above ego and pride. We are meant to protect ourselves from hatred and anger. Fighting with each other will only bring destruction, pain, and regret. Instead, we should work together to make this world peaceful and progressive.
Let us remember that every life is valuable. Let us choose compassion over conflict, understanding over anger, and peace over war. May no child ever have to cry like Noor Alam again. May humanity awaken before more innocent lives are lost.
