SKUAST-K’s ‘Gongul-2026’ exhibition celebrates innovation, empowerment in J&K agriculture

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister of UT of Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, on Saturday inaugurated SKUAST-K’s 11th Technology Exhibition, “Gongul-2026”, organised under the theme “My Produce, My Price.” He was accompanied by Javed Ahmad Dar, Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Cooperative, and Election and Sakeena Itoo, Minister for Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare of UT of Jammu and Kashmir
The three-day mega exhibition showcases a wide range of technological advancements and innovations in agriculture and allied sectors. Major attractions include the Smart Farming Show, Fruit Show, Startup Show, Art & Craft Show, Seed Show, Vegetable Show, Organic Farming Show, Food Carnival, Pet Animal & Fish Show, Mushroom Show, Planting Material Show, Seed Infrastructure Show, and the KVK Excellence Show, among many other highlights.
More than 400 stalls have been set up by entrepreneurs, startups, farmers, agri-business firms, self-help groups, and line departments. The exhibition is expected to witness a footfall of around 4–5 lakh visitors over the course of three days.
While addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister lauded SKUAST-K for its consistent efforts in promoting innovation, research, and entrepreneurship in the agriculture sector. He expressed hope that the University’s interventions would go a long way in strengthening the sustainable agri-preneurship ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir. He particularly appreciated the University’s initiatives in nurturing startups and fostering innovation-driven growth.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from farmers, entrepreneurs, students, officers from various line departments, and officials of the University, making it a vibrant and impactful platform for technology dissemination and stakeholder interaction.
“Gongul-2026” stands as a testament to SKUAST-K’s commitment to empowering farmers, promoting value addition, and advancing self-reliance in the agricultural sector of the Union Territory.
