One-week MSME training prog on ornamental fish disease diagnostics kickstarts at SKUAST-K

SRINAGAR: The Division of Aquatic Animal Health Management (AAHM), Faculty of Fisheries, Rangil, Ganderbal, SKUAST-K, successfully kick-started a one-week MSME-sponsored training programme titled “From Aquarium to Enterprise: Hands-on Training in Management of Cutting-Edge Fish Disease Diagnostics for Ornamental Fishes” w.e.f. February 09, 2026.
The programme focuses on practical skill development in ornamental fish health management, early disease detection, and the application of advanced diagnostic tools, alongside entrepreneurship-oriented modules aimed at promoting sustainable and profitable aquapreneurial ventures.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Farooz Ahmad Bhat, Dean, Faculty of Fisheries, emphasized on the importance of skill development, adoption of modern fish health diagnostics, and entrepreneurship for strengthening the ornamental fisheries sector and enhancing livelihoods in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
Prof. Feroz Ahmad Shah, Head, Division of AAHM, highlighted the role of advanced diagnostics, biosecurity, and disease surveillance in ensuring sustainable fish production and minimizing economic losses due to disease outbreaks.
