Offers condolences to victim families

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah Sunday unequivocally condemned the suicide bombing that targeted a Shia mosque in Islamabad Pakistan calling the attack as a cowardly and heinous act of terrorism.

The blast, which occurred during Friday prayers, killed at least 32 people and injured over 169. He made these remarks while talking to the media on the sidelines of a condolence visit to Pampore.

Dr Farooq expressed profound shock and grief over the incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

He said, “I am deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic suicide bombing inside the Shia mosque in Islamabad that has killed dozens of innocent worshippers and injured many more.  I strongly condemn this cowardly and heinous terrorist attack on a house of worship. Targeting people during prayers is not only an act of extreme brutality but also a crime against humanity. It shows how far we have gone from the teachings of Allah and the path of peace. My heartfelt condolences go to the families of those who lost their loved ones in this tragic incident. I pray that Allah grants them patience and strength to bear this irreparable loss, and may the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.”

Dr Farooq also visited Soura to offer condolences with a bereaved family.
