SRINAGAR: In a decisive move to protect the integrity of emergency services, police in Ganderbal has taken action against Parvaiz Ahmad Saeed for repeatedly making false distress calls on the ERSS-112 helpline, thereby misusing police resources and creating unnecessary panic.
The incident came to light when Police Post Shadipora received information through ERSS-112 via PCR Ganderbal about a caller reporting that his wife had been assaulted and urgently requesting police intervention. Officers responded promptly, contacted the caller, and dispatched a police team to the specified location. Upon arrival, they found that the caller had switched off his mobile phone, and subsequent verification confirmed the complaint was false and misleading.
Further investigation revealed that Parvaiz Ahmad Saeed, son of Gh Ahmad Saeed and resident of Narayanbagh, is a habitual offender who has made multiple fake distress calls, including three false complaints in January 2026 through ERSS-112. His deliberate actions were aimed at causing panic and diverting police attention from genuine emergencies.
Based on statements from his wife and family members, and considering his repeated misuse of emergency services, the individual has been detained under preventive provisions to preserve the sanctity of the ERSS-112 system.
Police emphasize that ERSS-112 is strictly for genuine emergencies. Misusing this critical service not only invites legal action but also hampers timely assistance to those in real need. Citizens are urged to act responsibly and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure public safety.
