SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah Monday expressed deep sorrow over the sudden passing of renowned broadcaster, writer and poet Abdul Ahad Farhad, describing his demise as an irreparable loss to Kashmir’s literary, cultural and journalistic heritage.
In his condolence message, Dr. Farooq said that Abdul Ahad Farhad was a towering cultural figure whose voice became synonymous with Radio Kashmir Srinagar, where he served as the lead newscaster and later enriched the airwaves through programmes devoted to literature, Sufism and the legacy of saints.
Dr. Farooq noted that Farhad’s contributions extended beyond broadcasting, as his writings consistently upheld Kashmir’s cultural values and traditions with rare sensitivity and integrity.
“Abdul Ahad Farhad was not only a gifted broadcaster and writer, but also a conscientious intellectual who carried his responsibilities with dignity and grace,” he further added.
He conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends, colleagues and admirers of the late Farhad, and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul, saying that Kashmir will remember him as one of its most authentic and influential voices.
