NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent a ceremonial Chadar to be laid on the sacred tomb of Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti during the 814th annual Urs at the Dargah Sharif in Ajmer on Monday.
Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju will offer the velvet Chadar at the shrine of Garib Nawaz on behalf of the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister has already handed over the chadar to the Union Minister at a brief ceremony in New Delhi.
Rijiju will reach Ajmer around 11:30 am on Monday, perform ziyarat, offer the Chadar, read out PM Modi’s ceremonial message, and also participate in other traditional rituals at the Dargah Sharif.
He will proceed to Jaipur around 2:30 pm.
The Urs ceremonies began with the traditional flag hoisting on December 17. The core rituals will conclude on December 30.
