Hajin traders demand streetlights in main market

Must read

HAJIN: Shopkeepers have demanded restoration of the defunct streetlights in the main market Hajin, saying they face inconvenience while carrying out business activities in the evenings.

A group of traders told Kashmir Reader that despite repeated representations before the Municipal Committee Hajin, no steps have been taken to restore or install streetlights.

“In the absence of streetlights, shopkeepers and commuters face hardships after dusk. The lights installed several years ago have gone out of order, and no repair work is being carried out,” said Zahoor Ahmad, a local trader.

He said many shopkeepers are forced to close their businesses earlier due to darkness, which directly impacts trade in the main market, considered the commercial hub of the town.

The traders have urged the authorities to take immediate measures to restore and install streetlights in the market.
