SRINAGAR: J&K National Conference State Women’s Wing President and MLA Habbakadal Shameema Firdous Tuesday undertook an extensive public outreach programme in Srinagar, reaffirming her commitment to improving civic infrastructure and addressing community concerns.

She laid the foundation stone for two vital drainage projects aimed at easing long-pending water logging issues in the old city. The first project running from Khanqah-e-Moula to Zaina Kadal has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of ₹47 lakh. The second project, from Gawkadal to Basant Bagh, carries an estimated cost of ₹49 lakh.

These projects are expected to enhance the drainage network in the densely populated areas, bringing much-needed relief to residents and shopkeepers who have long demanded durable solutions. Speaking on the occasion, Shameema Firdous reiterated that strengthening basic infrastructure remains a top priority, especially in historically underserved localities.

Later, she visited the revered Khanqah-e-Moula shrine, where she offered prayers and interacted with devotees and caretakers. She assured that all gates of the shrine would be made fully functional, with planned aesthetic improvements to enhance both convenience and heritage value. Officials from various departments accompanied her, taking note of the developmental requirements and directions issued on the spot.

Earlier in the day, Shameema Firdous visited Purusyar Habbakadal to meet families affected by a recent fire incident. She expressed solidarity with the victims, listened to their concerns, and assured them of every possible support from the administration as well as from her personal end. She emphasized that timely relief and rehabilitation of affected families remains an urgent priority.
