Members urged to participate in democratic process to ensure transparency, fair representation in organization
SRINAGAR: Jammu & Kashmir: The Private Schools Association JK (PSAJK) has issued an important update to its members regarding recent developments and upcoming activities. A key meeting of the association’s executive committee was held on October 12, 2025, in the presence of the outgoing President, Mr. G. N. Var, who has recently retired. During this meeting, a new President was elected with the authority to oversee the association’s affairs temporarily until the new executive body is formed through elections.
Members are advised to note this development and await further official communications concerning future meetings and the election schedule, the PSAJK said in a statement issued here.
According to the statement, some members have reportedly been unaware that the apex body’s meeting is scheduled for December 3, 2025, as previously notified. All members are encouraged to attend that meeting to voice any grievances or concerns.
The association clarified that the handover process from the outgoing leadership is still underway and remains incomplete. The new central office, located in Bemina Srinagar, was officially occupied on November 28, 2025, just two days before the upcoming meeting.
According to the notification, on December 3, 2025, the association will adopt an election policy and establish an independent election body responsible for updating electoral rolls and organizing the elections, the PSAJK said, adding that this marks the first time in the organization’s history that a transparent and fair electoral process will be conducted by an independent body.
The elected President will have the mandate to advocate for the private education sector and schools at various forums. Members with grievances or issues are urged to attend the scheduled meeting on December 3 to register their concerns directly with the central body.
The association also issued a warning against unauthorized meetings or discussions, emphasizing that any such activities will be deemed invalid and may result in disciplinary action.
Faisal Islam Mir, General Secretary of PSAJK, reiterated the importance of maintaining transparency and unity within the organization to ensure smooth functioning. The association’s notification for the December 3 meeting is being recirculated for the benefit of all concerned members and the larger community.
