NEW DELHI: The 2026 edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will be held from January 9 to February 5, across two venues — Navi Mumbai and Vadodara. League chairman Jayesh George announced the schedule at the start of the WPL auction here on Thursday.
The season will open at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, the venue where India recently lifted the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup trophy. After the first leg, the tournament will shift to Vadodara’s Kotambi Stadium, which will host the final on February 5.
This will be the first WPL to run in the January–February window, breaking from the February–March slot used for the first three seasons. It also marks the first time the league will not overlap with international fixtures, offering players a clear window of participation.
Thursday’s event also featured the first-ever mega auction since the WPL’s launch in 2023, and the debut of Right-to-Match (RTM) cards, adding a new layer of strategy for franchises.
Just 10 days after the WPL concludes, the Indian women’s team will head to Australia for a full series comprising three T20Is, three ODIs, and a Test, running from February 15 to March 9.
Mumbai Indians enter the 2026 season as defending champions, having won two of the first three editions. Royal Challengers Bengaluru lifted the trophy in 2024, while Delhi Capitals have finished runners-up in all three seasons so far.
